The Board of Selectmen is pleased to announce that Robert Williams has been appointed the new police chief for Barrington and will start December 7, 2015. Robert Williams is a Barrington resident who has over 20 years of law enforcement experience. He holds an associate degree in Criminal Justice and has done extensive additional training, including the FBI National Academy and Babson Command training. He comes to Barrington after 17 years with the Strafford County Sheriff department, most recently being the Chief Deputy Sheriff, which is second in command to Sheriff David Dubois. The Town thanks Deputy Sheriff Captain Joe McGivern for serving as Interim Police Chief. The Board thanks David Dubois for the interagency cooperation in this period of transition for the town. Resources for conducting an extensive search, generating over 50 applicants and presenting the Board with excellent finalists from which to choose.
